Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage is part of the Indian Ayurvedic Healing System and has been practised in India for over 1000 years. The treatment was originally used only on the head, to improve the condition of the hair and scalp but has since evolved to incorporate the face, neck and upper part of the shoulders.
Indian Head Massage is normally given with the client dressed and sitting but many people find it more beneficial and relaxing whilst lying down on a massage couch, as the muscles of the upper back and neck have much less work to do.
The treatment involves a variety of massage strokes and pressures to mobilise and stimulate the muscles of the face, head, neck and shoulders.
The treatment is approximately 30 minutes in duration. Even in this relatively short time, it can provide rapid relief from the symptoms of tension and stress in the head and neck and leave the client feeling calm and relaxed.
Indian Head Massage can also help to:
- Improve sleep patterns
- Promote better circulation in the face and scalp, which can aid skin/hair condition
- Relieve eye strain and tension headaches
- Ease jaw tension and sinus problems
- Generate an overall feeling of wellbeing
All Indian Head Massage treatments are carried out by Barbara.
